theBot: Modeling – Rigging – Animation – Rendering – Compositing WIP

This is a project where I try out rendering and more advanced rigging ideas. I´m also planning to benchmark VRay and Mental Ray.

the first test animation of the bot. Added some sfx and music. Also started adding som 2d elements like dust and debri.

Started adding detail geometry. I will use hair dynaimcs to add animation to the hoses.

A test render from my first animation test of the bot rig. I did a rough compose in afx.

I modeled the spherical shell of the character. I used NURBS in Maya. I have always been skeptical to the nurbs tool in Maya, but when I used them in 2011 they felt more robust then before. Of course you cannot compare them to the nurbs tool in a product like studio tools, but still.

I used the 3d paint tool to refine my skecth of  the body. I later use this as a reference for modeling the high rez model of the body.

Ttest renderings that I am doing while modeling. The pink parts is temporary poly meshes that I re-model in higher resolution.
